In the foreword to the State of the World's Human Rights report released Monday, Amnesty Secretary-General Agnès Callamard singles out three heads of state by name and catalogues what she calls a 'predatory world order' of unlawful war, extrajudicial killing, and the abandonment of multilateralism.

The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation granted the Ministry of Justice's motion on April 9 to designate the International Public Movement Memorial an extremist organization and ban its activity on Russian territory. The court said Memorial is 'under the influence of a destructive ideology' and acts to 'destroy the fundamental foundations of Russian statehood.' Memorial was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2022.

The Ministry of Defence disclosed on April 9 a weeks-long tracking operation against a Russian Akula-class attack submarine and two specialist GUGI deep-sea vessels. A separate 10-day operation shadowed a Kilo-class submarine through the English Channel and North Sea.

Russia ordered its forces to halt combat operations from 4 PM Saturday to the end of Sunday for Orthodox Easter. Zelenskyy said he's ready to reciprocate, calling a silent Easter 'the signal that tells everyone diplomacy can succeed.'
